Global shortage of high-end glass fiber cloth impacts AI infrastructure supply chain
Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 09:53 AM
A global shortage of high-end glass fiber cloth, crucial for advanced PCBs and CCLs used in AI infrastructure, is emerging and is expected to continue until late 2027. This shortage is driven by the AI boom and upgrades in PCB/CCL technology, with major tech companies like NVIDIA, Google, and Amazon reportedly competing for supplies. Nitto Boseki is currently identified as a key supplier with scale, technology, and quality. Nanya Plastics has partnered with Nitto Boseki to expand supply, and Taiwan Glass is investing NT$2.25 billion to significantly increase its high-end glass fiber cloth production lines, aiming to double capacity by 2026. The increasing demand and limited supply are expected to drive up prices.
