Kioxia invests in EmotionX to commercialize next-generation encryption technology
Monday, March 16, 2026 at 09:03 AM
Kioxia has invested in EmotionX, a startup specializing in next-generation encryption technologies, to commercialize advanced data security solutions. The partnership aims to integrate sophisticated cryptographic protocols into semiconductor storage products to address future cybersecurity demands.
Context
On March 16, 2026, memory giant Kioxia announced a strategic investment in EmotionX (Quantum eMotion Corp., QNC) to commercialize next-generation, quantum-secure encryption technology. This move integrates Quantum eMotion’s patented electron-based Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG), which achieves speeds of 1.8 Gbps, into Kioxia’s semiconductor roadmap. The partnership aims to embed hardware-rooted entropy directly into silicon, specifically targeting the eCMOS-Q 65nm integration to protect high-capacity SSDs against emerging quantum computing threats.
This investment aligns with Kioxia’s broader strategy to dominate the AI-driven flash memory market, where it expects 50% of NAND demand to be AI-related by 2029. By securing quantum-resilient cryptographic modules and NIST-aligned post-quantum cryptography, Kioxia is positioning its BiCS FLASH products for mission-critical data centers and sovereign AI infrastructure. This collaboration follows Quantum eMotion’s recent NYSE American listing and underscores the industry's shift toward hardware-level security as a standard for next-generation storage solutions.
