Tera Probe is acquiring land and buildings through its Taiwanese subsidiary to expand capacity for semiconductor testing services in response to growing demand.

Context

Tera Probe has announced that its Taiwanese subsidiary, TeraPower Technology Inc., is acquiring new land and buildings in Taiwan to significantly expand its semiconductor testing capacity. This move is a direct response to the explosive demand for outsourced semiconductor assembly and testing (OSAT) services, specifically targeting high-growth segments in AI and automotive electronics. The expansion follows the company’s recent trajectory, which included plans for a third factory to address the tightening supply in the advanced testing market. As a key member of the Powertech Technology (PTI) group, Tera Probe’s increased footprint in Taiwan strengthens the parent company's ability to offer "turn-key" backend solutions. With Taiwan currently controlling roughly 90% of global AI server manufacturing capacity, the acquisition positions TeraPower to capture high-value wafer and final testing contracts from global chipmakers. This strategic investment underscores the critical role of specialized testing infrastructure in sustaining the current AI hardware boom throughout 2025 and beyond.
