Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company raises prices for semiconductor process chemicals starting April 1

Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company (MGC) is raising prices for its electronic-grade chemicals, including hydrogen peroxide and ammonium hydroxide, which are critical for semiconductor wafer cleaning and etching processes. The price adjustment is effective April 1, 2026, and is driven by rising logistics, energy, and raw material costs.
Context
Effective April 1, 2026, Japanese chemical leader Mitsubishi Gas Chemical (MGC) has implemented a price increase for its semiconductor process chemicals, including its dominant 50% global market share super-pure hydrogen peroxide. The hike follows a period of significant margin compression caused by rising raw material costs, higher energy prices, and elevated logistics expenses. The company previously warned in February 2026 that it would seek to pass these costs to customers to maintain stable margins amid a recovery in semiconductor manufacturing demand.
This pricing shift is particularly critical as the industry faces a supply-demand imbalance for specialized materials. MGC is currently navigating a surge in demand for BT substrate materials driven by TSMC’s CoWoS advanced packaging for AI chips, which has led to reported shipment delays. While MGC recently revised its FY2025 forecasts downward due to losses in other segments like MXDA, these price adjustments on electronics materials are designed to improve profitability as global chip production scales up for AI and high-performance computing applications.
