Dexerials aims to double its revenue from optical engineering by the fiscal year ending March 2029. The company is targeting growth in AI-related applications, specifically focusing on components used in AI infrastructure and advanced packaging materials.
Context
Specialty materials manufacturer Dexerials is pivoting its growth strategy toward the photonics and AI infrastructure markets, aiming to double its optical engineering revenue by the fiscal year ending March 2029. This initiative is a core component of its Mid-Term Management Plan 2028, titled "Achieving Evolution," which seeks to capitalize on the surge in generative AI demand. To drive this growth, the company established Dexerials Photonics Solutions Corporation in April 2024 to accelerate the development of high-speed photodiodes and optical transceivers essential for next-generation data centers.
The shift comes as Dexerials looks to establish photonics as its third major business pillar alongside automotive and existing electronic materials. The company is investing in smart factory upgrades at its Kanuma Plant No. 2 to bolster production capacity for high-value-added products like anti-reflection films and surface-mounted fuses. By targeting the photonics domain, where data communication speeds are scaling rapidly, the company expects to outpace broader market expansion and build a more resilient, high-margin business portfolio through 2029.
