TSMC's 2025 financial disclosures reveal that its Arizona Fab 21 has achieved significant profitability as mass production of advanced logic chips stabilized. Additionally, financial performance at the JASM Fab 23 in Japan is showing continued improvement.

Context

TSMC’s Arizona subsidiary, Fab 21, reached a major financial milestone in 2025 by reporting its first-ever net profit of $150.1 million during the first half of the year, with profitability strengthening as mass production scaled. This turnaround from a $143.4 million loss in 2024 was fueled by the successful transition to high-volume manufacturing of 4-nanometer logic chips. High factory utilization and robust demand from major clients like Nvidia and Apple have stabilized the site’s performance, while production yields have notably surpassed those of Taiwan-based facilities by approximately 4%. This profitability validates TSMC’s global expansion strategy amidst surging AI demand. The company has since increased its total Arizona investment to $165 billion and accelerated the mass production timeline for its second, 3-nanometer capable fab to the second half of 2027. Meanwhile, the JASM subsidiary in Japan is also showing operational improvements as it ramps up production, further reinforcing the reliability of the advanced semiconductor supply chain for international investors.
