NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 production forecasts reportedly revised upward as smartphone demand weakens
Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 03:39 AM
Market indicators suggest an upward revision for NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 rack systems while the smartphone sector faces significant downward pressure, with potential shipment declines of up to 30%.
Context
Recent supply chain intelligence indicates a major shift in semiconductor priority as NVIDIA reportedly revises production forecasts upward for its GB300 NVL72 rack-scale systems. This move comes as the global memory shortage, driven by the shift toward HBM3e and DDR5 for AI data centers, begins to cannibalize the production of conventional DRAM and NAND. Consequently, the smartphone market is bracing for a projected 10% to 30% decline in output for 2026, as components are reallocated to higher-margin AI infrastructure.
The GB300 NVL72, built on the Blackwell Ultra architecture, is seeing surging demand due to its massive performance gains, offering up to 50x higher throughput and 35x lower cost per token for reasoning and agentic AI compared to the older Hopper platform. While Apple and other consumer electronics giants are facing rising assembly costs and component scarcity, NVIDIA is leveraging its domestic production ramp in Arizona and Texas to meet hyperscale demand. Mass production of these systems is expected to accelerate through the second half of 2025 and into 2026.
