AIKO maintains 35 GW of non-silver photovoltaic capacity across facilities in Zhuhai, Yiwu, and Jinan, with an additional 20 GW currently under construction at the Jinan site.
Context
Aiko Solar has officially scaled its non-silver photovoltaic production capacity to 10GW, representing a major breakthrough for its high-efficiency All-Back-Contact (ABC) technology. By replacing expensive silver paste with copper-based metallization, the company has successfully addressed a primary cost driver and supply chain vulnerability in solar manufacturing. This transition to silver-less plating is intended to stabilize production costs against the volatility of precious metal markets while maintaining industry-leading conversion efficiencies.
The achievement of 10GW capacity indicates that Aiko Solar has moved beyond the pilot phase into large-scale commercial viability. This shift is particularly relevant as global energy infrastructure evolves to meet the massive power demands of AI data centers, where high-efficiency modules are required to maximize energy density. For investors, this milestone confirms the technical scalability of copper plating at a mass-market level, positioning the firm to lower the total cost of renewable energy deployment for the semiconductor and computing industries.
