LG CNS has launched AI Box, a containerized modular data center solution that can be deployed in six months. Each unit supports 576 GPUs and 1.2MW of power. The company intends to establish a data center campus in Busan, South Korea, using this modular infrastructure to meet domestic AI demand.
Context
On March 5, 2026, LG CNS introduced AI Box, a modular, container-style data center solution designed to rapidly scale artificial intelligence infrastructure. By utilizing a pre-fabricated design that eliminates the need for traditional building construction, LG CNS can reduce deployment timelines from over two years to just six months. Each individual module is engineered to support up to 576 GPUs and handle an IT load of 1.2MW, integrating liquid cooling and battery systems from LG Electronics and LG Energy Solution.
This launch marks a significant shift toward flexible, hyperscale-ready infrastructure in the South Korean market. LG CNS plans to deploy its first AI Box units at its Busan Global Cloud Data Center site, with a long-term strategy to build a massive campus consisting of approximately 50 modules totaling 60MW of capacity. The company intends to leverage this "One LG" technological synergy to expand the modular solution into global markets, including North America and Southeast Asia.
