Samsung S26 Standard Camera Specs Held Static, Production of Standard/Plus Models Delayed

Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 07:27 AM

Samsung Electronics is reportedly equipping the upcoming Galaxy S26 Standard model with a rear camera module featuring the same specifications (50MP/12MP/10MP) as the S25 model. Additionally, mass production of the S26 Standard and Plus models has been postponed until early next year, with only the S26 Ultra model starting production this month. The company has also shifted its S26 lineup plan from an 'Edge' model to a 'Plus' model.

Context

Supply-chain reports indicate Samsung Electronics will keep the Galaxy S26 standard’s rear camera hardware largely unchanged from the S25 — 50MP main, 12MP ultra-wide and 10MP telephoto — after reversing planned upgrades to cut costs. The move follows competitive pressure from Apple keeping the iPhone 17 base at $799, and suppliers say Samsung may reuse the same image sensor while tweaking minor parts to lower the BOM. As a result, Samsung is starting mass production only of the S26 Ultra now and has pushed the Standard/Plus runs into early next year after swapping an Edge variant for a Plus. Combined with a recent surge in memory prices (DRAM/NAND), expect upward pressure on Galaxy S26 unit costs and potential SKU price moves or margin squeezes for component suppliers and OEMs in early-2026.
