Apple's upcoming OLED MacBook Pro, scheduled for mass production in late 2026, will reportedly feature integrated on-cell touch technology. Conversely, a lower-cost MacBook using an iPhone processor expected in late 2025 will omit touch functionality, though its 2027 successor may include it.

Apple is set to redefine its laptop lineup by integrating on-cell touch panels into OLED MacBook Pro models, with mass production scheduled for late 2026. This move marks the first time Apple will offer a touchscreen Mac, utilizing tandem OLED technology from suppliers like Samsung Display and LG Display to achieve higher brightness and thinner designs. The shift follows years of observing iPad user behavior and signals a move toward a more premium "MacBook Ultra" tier, which could see price increases of up to 20% mirroring previous OLED transitions.
While high-end models gain touch capabilities, the upcoming entry-level MacBook Neo, powered by the A18 Pro iPhone processor, will lack a touch interface when it enters mass production in 4Q25. Priced as low as $599, the Neo is designed for the education market to compete with Chromebooks. Although initial reports suggested a second-generation version in 2027 might include touch support, recent analyst data indicates Apple may omit the feature to maintain its aggressive low-cost positioning.
