Microchip Announces New Power Monitor Semiconductor

Friday, December 5, 2025 at 05:40 AM

Microchip Technology has introduced a new power monitor semiconductor specifically designed for low-power portable devices.

Context

Microchip Technology (Nasdaq: MCHP) has launched two new digital power monitors, the PAC1711 and PAC1811, which significantly reduce power consumption in battery-operated and energy-restricted devices. These semiconductors consume half the power of comparable solutions under typical operating conditions, a critical advancement for extending battery life and improving energy efficiency across various applications. The PAC1711 (12-bit) and PAC1811 (16-bit) monitors sense bus voltages from 0 to 42 volts and provide real-time system alerts, including a patent-pending step-alert function. Their compact VDFN packages offer pin- and footprint-compatibility with the popular SOT23-8, simplifying integration. These devices act as independent "watchdog" peripherals, allowing microcontrollers to remain dormant and further conserving energy. Available now, with pricing starting at $0.58 each in 10,000-unit quantities for the PAC1711, these monitors are well-suited for high-growth sectors such as computing, networking, AI/ML, and E-Mobility. This release underscores Microchip's commitment to innovation in power management, addressing the increasing demand for energy efficiency in the semiconductor market.
