The company aims to initiate trial production in Q1 2025, with full-scale mass production of its SF2 node scheduled for the second half of the year. This aggressive timeline positions Samsung to compete directly with TSMC, which is also targeting a late 2025 window for its 2nm N2 process. By converting existing 3nm lines at the S3 facility, Samsung expects to reach an initial monthly capacity of 7,000 wafers, primarily targeting the high-growth mobile and AI sectors. Success in this transition is critical for Samsung to recover foundry market share and secure high-profile clients like Tesla, Ambarella, and Preferred Networks. The SF2 process leverages third-generation Gate-All-Around (GAA) architecture, which the company claims provides a 25% improvement in power efficiency and a 12% boost in performance over previous generations.
