NVIDIA estimates that implementing Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) in data centers could reduce power consumption for optical data transmission between servers and external network equipment by about 70%. Additionally, using 2.5D implementation to interconnect semiconductor chips and optical engines via silicon interposers could halve power consumption compared to current CPO implementations.
