Samsung Electronics and SK hynix will showcase HBM4 technologies at Nvidia GTC 2026, where Nvidia is expected to unveil its next-generation Vera Rubin AI accelerator. Samsung has reportedly begun mass production shipments of HBM4, aiming to secure a lead in the sixth-generation high-bandwidth memory market, while SK hynix will display its latest HBM4 and memory portfolio. SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won is expected to attend and meet with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.

Context

At the upcoming NVIDIA GTC 2026 conference scheduled for March 16-19, the semiconductor industry expects the official unveiling of the Vera Rubin platform, NVIDIA’s next-generation AI accelerator. This launch marks a critical shift in the supply chain as it will be the first to integrate HBM4 (6th-generation High Bandwidth Memory). Samsung Electronics and SK hynix are prepared for a head-to-head competition for supply dominance. Samsung recently claimed a strategic lead by announcing the world’s first commercial shipment of HBM4 in February 2026, while SK hynix reportedly holds a preliminary allocation for two-thirds of NVIDIA’s HBM4 volume for the year. An industry official noted that the event will be a "watershed moment to estimate the winner of the future HBM4 supply competition" between Samsung’s early mass-production lead and SK hynix’s established reliability with NVIDIA. To solidify this partnership, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won is confirmed to attend GTC for the first time to meet personally with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang.
