Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan announced in an internal memo that the appointment of Aparna Bawa, former Zoom COO, as the company's chief legal and people officer is a key component of the firm's ongoing transformation strategy.
Context
On April 2, 2026, Intel announced the appointment of Aparna Bawa as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal and People Officer, reporting directly to CEO Lip-Bu Tan. Bawa, formerly the COO of Zoom, will oversee Intel's global legal, ethics, compliance, and human resources functions starting in May 2026. She succeeds April Miller Boise, who is departing in June, and Victoria Holroyd-Fogg, who served as the interim chief people officer.
CEO Lip-Bu Tan emphasized the importance of this hire in an internal memo, stating that the role is ‘central to Intel’s transformation’ as the company seeks to align its culture with disciplined execution and accountability. This leadership shift is part of a broader organizational restructuring following Tan’s appointment as CEO in 2025, which has included securing over $8.8 billion in CHIPS Act funding and a strategic pivot toward becoming a modern IDM and multi-architecture xPU provider.
