Nvidia and Samsung have entered a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the research and development of AI Radio Access Network (AI-RAN) infrastructure. This partnership involves phased technological development supported by joint R&D and significant capital investment to build AI-integrated telecommunications networks.
Context
Nvidia and Samsung Electronics have signed a memorandum of understanding to co-develop AI-RAN (Radio Access Network) infrastructure, marking a significant expansion of their 25-year partnership. This collaboration focuses on integrating AI workloads with mobile network equipment to optimize performance for future 6G networks. As part of this broader technological alliance, Samsung is constructing a state-of-the-art AI factory powered by more than 50,000 Nvidia GPUs, utilizing the Nvidia Omniverse and Isaac Sim platforms to create digital twins for advanced semiconductor manufacturing. The two companies aim to achieve 20x performance gains in computational lithography through this integrated hardware-software ecosystem. This strategic move positions Samsung to lead in autonomous fab environments while providing Nvidia with a massive deployment footprint for its Blackwell architecture and AI Aerial platforms within the global telecommunications supply chain.
