Projections suggest that Nvidia's data center revenue is on track to surpass Apple's iPhone revenue by the year 2026.
Context
Nvidia is poised to overtake Apple’s iPhone as the world’s most valuable product franchise. While the iPhone remains a $200 billion plus annual business, Nvidia's data center segment is projected to hit $190 billion in CY25. Analysts suggest it is "highly likely" that Nvidia's data center revenue will exceed the iPhone's on an annual basis by 2026, positioning it as the second largest product franchise globally, trailing only Google's advertising business.
This transition reflects a massive structural shift in the tech supply chain from mobile hardware to AI infrastructure. Nvidia management recently confirmed that demand for its Blackwell and upcoming Rubin chips is exceeding expectations, with cumulative data center revenue for 2025 and 2026 now expected to surpass the company's previous $500 billion forecast. As hyperscalers continue to ramp up capital expenditures, the semiconductor industry is cemented as the primary driver of the next global economic cycle.
