Murata Manufacturing Launches New High-Voltage MLCC with C0G Characteristics

Murata Manufacturing has introduced a new multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) featuring C0G temperature characteristics, a maximum capacitance of 15nF, and a 1.25kV rated voltage in a 3225M size.
Context
On December 2, 2025, Murata Manufacturing announced the immediate mass production of what it claims is the world’s first multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) delivering 15 nF capacitance at a 1.25 kV rating in a compact 3.2 x 2.5 mm size. This C0G-class component is designed for high stability across a wide temperature range, from -55°C to +125°C, making it highly reliable for demanding applications.
This launch is strategically timed to support the growing adoption of high-efficiency silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs, which often require components rated above their 1.2 kV breakdown voltage. The new MLCC specifically targets high-growth sectors, including onboard chargers (OBCs) for electric vehicles (EVs) and power supply circuits for high-performance devices like AI servers. By enabling smaller and more efficient power conversion circuits, this innovation positions Murata to capture premium value in the critical power-component supply chain for the EV and AI industries.
