ABB Robotics and Nvidia have announced a collaboration that successfully closed the sim-to-real gap in industrial automation using AI-driven simulation technology.

ABB Robotics and NVIDIA have announced a strategic partnership to integrate NVIDIA Omniverse libraries into ABB’s RobotStudio software. This collaboration aims to close the "sim-to-real" gap, allowing robotics engineers to develop and train industrial robots in physically accurate, photorealistic virtual environments before deploying them to the factory floor. By leveraging physical AI, the new RobotStudio HyperReality suite is expected to reduce robot deployment costs by up to 40% and accelerate time to market by as much as 50%. This technology achieves 99% accuracy in bridging the transition from simulation to real-world performance.
The integration is already being piloted by major global manufacturers, including Foxconn and the U.S.-based automation firm Workr. These early adopters are testing the platform's ability to handle complex industrial tasks with high-grade precision across the electronics and SME manufacturing sectors. ABB plans to make the RobotStudio HyperReality product commercially available in the second half of 2026, marking a significant milestone in the scalability of autonomous industrial systems.
