Advantest is planning to establish a new research and development center called the Omiya Tech Hub in Omiya Ward, Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture, to expand its technical development capabilities.

Context

Semiconductor testing leader Advantest (TSE: 6857) has announced plans to establish a new research and development center, the Omiya Tech Hub, in Saitama City, Japan. This facility is expected to serve as a strategic base for advancing the company’s automated test equipment (ATE) capabilities, particularly as demand surges for high-performance computing and AI-driven semiconductor validation. The move supplements Advantest’s existing footprint in the region, which includes the Saitama R&D Center in Kazo-shi. This expansion follows a period of record financial performance for the company, driven by the rapid adoption of NVIDIA Blackwell architectures and the increasing complexity of HBM (High-Bandwidth Memory). By late 2025 and into 2026, Advantest has focused heavily on integrating GPU-accelerated compute into its testing workflows. The Omiya Tech Hub is positioned to accelerate these innovations, focusing on the next generation of SoC and memory test solutions required for agentic AI and advanced packaging technologies.
