Jedat and Kimura Information Technology to launch cloud EDA software for Japanese semiconductor education

Monday, March 2, 2026 at 08:36 AM

Jedat and Kimura Information Technology will launch a cloud-based version of the SX-Meister EDA software for educational institutions in April. This initiative aims to foster semiconductor design talent in Japan by providing accessible CAD tools for student training.

Context

Jedat Inc. and Kimura Information Technology will launch a cloud-based version of the SX-Meister semiconductor design software in April 2026. The platform, integrated into the GAKUSEE MI educational suite, aims to dismantle high cost and infrastructure barriers that have historically prevented Japanese institutions from teaching advanced Electronic Design Automation (EDA). By moving industrial-grade CAD tools to the cloud, the partnership provides students with remote access to the same design environments used by professional engineers. This rollout directly addresses Japan’s critical semiconductor talent shortage, where demand for specialized engineers has spiked 14-fold over the last decade. As the domestic market is projected to grow to $175.25 billion by 2034, training a workforce capable of supporting major domestic projects like Rapidus and TSMC is essential for supply chain resilience. For Jedat, this move scales its software footprint into the academic pipeline, securing long-term adoption of its tools as the next generation of designers enters the workforce.
