Context
Toshiba reported a record-breaking operating profit of 214.7 billion yen for the April-December 2025 period, marking an 88% surge compared to the previous year. This performance represents a historical high for the nine-month timeframe, exceeding profit levels recorded even before the high-profile separation of its memory business, Kioxia.
The results were primarily driven by the global expansion of AI data centers, which triggered massive demand for Toshiba power transmission and distribution infrastructure. Additionally, the HDD business saw a significant turnaround as hyperscalers increased procurement of high-capacity storage to support AI training and enterprise workloads.
These record earnings underscore the company’s successful pivot toward energy and digital infrastructure under its ongoing revitalization plan. By streamlining operations and reducing structural costs, Toshiba has positioned itself as a critical beneficiary of the semiconductor and AI power supply chain, moving past years of restructuring to achieve peak profitability.
