Fujitsu establishes domestic AI server supply chain with component origin tracking

Fujitsu is establishing a domestic supply chain for AI servers in Japan. The initiative involves tracking the origin of components to mitigate information leakage risks and ensure security in the hardware manufacturing process.

Context

Fujitsu is establishing a domestic AI server supply chain featuring a rigorous component origin tracking system to minimize information leakage risks. This initiative localizes production within Japan to ensure hardware integrity for "sovereign AI" applications. By verifying the source of every critical component, the company aims to eliminate hidden vulnerabilities and meet the high security standards required by government, defense, and financial sectors. This move supports Fujitsu’s broader strategy to provide dedicated, on-premise generative AI environments such as Private GPT and secure PRIMERGY server solutions. The localized chain addresses growing geopolitical concerns and the need for digital sovereignty, allowing enterprises to process sensitive data in closed environments without relying on external or unverified infrastructure. The rollout follows the launch of a new dedicated AI platform in January 2026, with preliminary trials beginning in February 2026 and a full commercial launch slated for July 2026. Fujitsu expects to extend this secure supply chain model across its broader manufacturing services by the end of fiscal 2026, targeting a significant increase in domestic technological resilience and data security.
