Renesas adds Wi-Fi 6 and BLE support to 32-bit RA Family MCUs
Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 08:40 AM
Renesas announced the expansion of its 32-bit RA Family of microcontrollers, introducing new devices that include support for both Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity. This represents a new product launch for their MCU portfolio.
Context
On Dec 10, 2025, Renesas added Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth LE to its 32-bit RA Family with the RA6W1 (Wi-Fi 6) now available and the RA6W2 (Wi-Fi 6 + BLE) slated for Q1 2026. The MCUs use an Arm Cortex-M33 at 160 MHz with 704 KB SRAM, support dual-band 2.4/5 GHz 802.11ax (MCS9 up to 115 Mbps), OFDMA and Target Wake Time, and achieve ultra-low sleep currents (200 nA–4 µA, <50 µA DTIM10).
This expands Renesas’ connectivity footprint in smart home, industrial and medical IoT by offering integrated modules (RRQ61001, RRQ61051), full software support and 15-year MCU longevity, accelerating time-to-market and lowering BOM. For investors, the move increases addressable content per device and strengthens cross-sell into RA MCU customers — a potential catalyst for stable, long-cycle revenue growth in IoT connectivity.
