Context
AMD and Nutanix have announced a multi-year strategic partnership to build an open, full-stack AI infrastructure platform designed specifically for agentic AI applications. To cement the deal, AMD will invest a total of $250 million, comprising a $150 million equity stake in Nutanix at $36.26 per share and $100 million in joint engineering and go-to-market funding. Following the announcement, Nutanix shares surged over 14% in extended trading as investors reacted to the expansion of its AI footprint.
The collaboration aims to disrupt the enterprise AI landscape by providing a production-ready alternative to closed, proprietary ecosystems. By integrating AMD Instinct GPUs and EPYC CPUs with the Nutanix Cloud Platform, the duo targets the high-growth inference market where autonomous AI agents require seamless orchestration across edge and hybrid environments. The equity investment is expected to close in Q2 2026, with the first jointly developed integrated solutions slated for market release in late 2026.
