TSMC has recognized a supplier of the photosensitive insulating material PIMEL™ by presenting it with the 2025 TSMC Excellent Performance Award for its excellent technology development and production support in advanced semiconductor packaging.
Context
Asahi Kasei has been honored with the prestigious 2025 TSMC Excellent Performance Award for its PIMEL™ photosensitive dielectric material. This recognition, presented by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (TSMC) at its 2025 Supply Chain Management Forum on November 25, 2025, acknowledges Asahi Kasei's "Excellent Technology Development and Production Support" in advanced packaging. This award highlights the critical role of PIMEL™ in the rapidly evolving semiconductor industry. The material is essential for advanced packaging, providing protection, adhesion, and optimized electrical connectivity, particularly for AI-related applications and high-density circuit designs. This strategic importance is further underscored by Asahi Kasei's plans to significantly expand its photosensitive polyimide production capacity. The company intends to double its capacity by 2030, investing ¥16 billion (approximately €100 million) at its Fuji City facility in Japan, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the growing demand for advanced semiconductor materials.
