JHICC targets 60,000 wafers per month DRAM capacity by 2026

JHICC is reportedly planning to expand its DRAM production capacity to over 60,000 wafers per month by 2026. The facility will focus on 19nm class (1x nm) technology, which could increase the global supply of DDR4 memory and impact competitors like Nanya.
Context
Fujian Jinhua Integrated Circuit Co. (JHICC) is signaling a major comeback with plans to scale DRAM capacity to 60,000 wafers per month by 2026. Following a legal acquittal earlier this year, the company has reportedly improved yields for its independently developed 19nm process. This expansion focuses specifically on the DDR4 market, which is currently experiencing tight supply as global leaders shift production toward AI-focused high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and DDR5.
The ramp-up is a significant headwind for Nanya Technology, which has lately profited from a "DDR4 shortage" and surging legacy chip prices. While Nanya has leveraged this supply gap to boost margins and revenue, the massive projected influx of 60,000 wafers from JHICC is expected to alleviate the shortage and force a global price correction. This move positions JHICC as a dominant force in the legacy segment, potentially ending the favorable supply-demand imbalance that has bolstered Nanya’s recent earnings.
