Nvidia is collaborating with global telecommunications leaders to develop AI-native 6G network infrastructure. This partnership aims to integrate AI computing resources directly into the next generation of mobile connectivity architectures.
Context
NVIDIA and a global coalition of telecom leaders including T-Mobile, SoftBank, Ericsson, and Nokia announced a landmark commitment at Mobile World Congress 2026 to build AI-native 6G infrastructure. This partnership centers on the AI-RAN Alliance, now comprising over 130 companies, which aims to replace legacy hardware with open, software-defined platforms. By embedding AI across the radio access network, the initiative seeks to transform telecom networks into a unified fabric for "physical AI," supporting billions of autonomous machines, sensors, and vehicles.
This transition is supported by a $1 billion investment from NVIDIA into Nokia to accelerate commercial AI-RAN deployment. The market for these intelligent platforms is projected to exceed $200 billion by 2030, driven by the need for massive spectral efficiency and real-time intelligence at the edge. Global field trials are slated to begin later in 2026, positioning 6G as the foundational "nervous system" for the next era of the digital economy.
