Intel appoints Naga Chandrasekaran to lead Intel Foundry

Friday, February 27, 2026 at 01:40 PM

Naga Chandrasekaran has been appointed as the new head of Intel Foundry, succeeding the previous leader after a two-year tenure.

Context

Intel has consolidated its Intel Foundry leadership under Naga Chandrasekaran, who now oversees the entire organization following the February 2026 departure of Foundry Services head Kevin O’Buckley to Qualcomm. Chandrasekaran, a veteran with over 20 years of experience at Micron, originally joined Intel in August 2024 and saw his responsibilities expand in September 2025 to unify technology development and manufacturing operations. This unified leadership structure is a central component of Intel’s strategy to establish the first systems foundry for the AI era. By integrating manufacturing, R&D, and go-to-market functions under a single head, the company aims to accelerate execution and better support external customers testing next-generation nodes like Intel 14A. The move marks the third major leadership shift for the unit since 2021, highlighting the high stakes for Intel’s turnaround as it seeks to compete with global leaders like TSMC.
