TSMC Arizona Fab 4 capacity reportedly fully booked by Apple, Nvidia, AMD and Qualcomm
Monday, March 23, 2026 at 12:42 AM
Reports suggest TSMC's planned fourth fab in Arizona has already reached full capacity commitments from major clients including Apple, Nvidia, AMD, and Qualcomm before construction has even started. This surge is driven by a push for supply chain diversification. Additionally, TSMC expects its international manufacturing hubs in the US, Japan, and Germany to represent 20% of its total output by 2028.
Context
Recent reports indicate that TSMC's planned Fab 4 in Arizona is already fully booked by major tech giants including Apple, Nvidia, AMD, and Qualcomm, even before groundbreaking has commenced. This surge in demand follows TSMC's March 2025 announcement to expand its total U.S. investment to $165 billion, covering a total of six planned fabs in Phoenix. The commitment from these lead customers underscores a strategic shift toward securing domestic supply chains for high-performance AI and mobile silicon.
The Arizona site is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of the global semiconductor ecosystem. While the first fab began volume production in late 2024, the second and third facilities are targeting advanced 2nm and A16 (1.6nm) nodes with production dates through 2030. By 2028, TSMC projects that its international sites in the U.S., Japan, and Germany will account for roughly 20% of its total global production capacity, diversifying its manufacturing footprint away from a purely Taiwan-centric model.
