Horiba has acquired an Indian startup specializing in synthetic diamond development to integrate the material into semiconductor analysis equipment, aiming to enhance measurement precision and durability.

Context

Horiba has finalized the 100% acquisition of Pristine Deeptech, an Indian startup specializing in synthetic diamond research and development. The deal, completed through Horiba India on January 14, 2026, marks a strategic expansion into advanced material analysis for the semiconductor and quantum technology sectors. By integrating the Gujarat-based startup’s expertise, Horiba aims to establish a dedicated R&D hub in India to develop measurement solutions for the next generation of industrial materials. This acquisition is critical for the AI and semiconductor supply chains as synthetic diamonds possess superior thermal conductivity and voltage resistance. These properties are essential for high-performance power semiconductors, quantum sensors, and cooling systems required in AI data centers and 5G/6G infrastructure. The move aligns with Horiba’s long-term plan to leverage India as a global innovation center, supporting the local semiconductor ecosystem and capturing the projected decade-long growth in the synthetic diamond market.
