Solaris Energy Infrastructure to reach 3,100 MW of power capacity by 2029 through acquisitions and turbine orders

Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 09:17 AM

Solaris Energy Infrastructure is significantly expanding its gas turbine power capacity to meet rising demand for distributed power. The company acquired Genco Power Solutions for its 400 MW portfolio and secured 500 MW in additional turbine delivery slots, targeting a total of 3,100 MW by late 2029. The expansion is funded through a mix of cash, stock, debt assumption, and a new $300 million credit facility.

Context

Solaris Energy Infrastructure has announced a major expansion of its power generation capacity, targeting 3,100 MW by the end of 2029. The company closed two strategic deals adding 900 MW of natural gas-fueled turbine capacity: the acquisition of Genco Power Solutions for 400 MW and the purchase of 30 turbine delivery slots totaling 500 MW. The combined transactions involved $240 million in cash, the issuance of 4 million shares, and the assumption of $165 million in debt, with an additional $935 million in capital expenditures planned over the next three and a half years. This aggressive scaling is driven by surging demand from AI data centers and industrial electrification, which management notes continues to outpace current supply. To support this growth, Solaris secured a new $300 million credit facility from Goldman Sachs and Santander. The expansion solidifies the company’s transition from oilfield logistics to a premier power-as-a-service provider for high-density computing and infrastructure.
