AEP subsidiary commits $2.65 billion for 900 MW solid oxide fuel cell facility

AEP's unregulated subsidiary has executed an unconditional purchase agreement for a significant portion of its option to acquire solid oxide fuel cells, totaling approximately 900 MW, for a new generation facility at an estimated cost of $2.65 billion. This follows a November 2024 agreement where AEP acquired 100 MW with an option for an additional 900 MW.
