Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at 02:53 AM

Tokyo Electron reported that its Technology Solutions Tohoku plant in Iwate Prefecture and its Miyagi facility sustained no damage to buildings or equipment and are operating as usual.

Context

On December 8, an earthquake with a maximum seismic intensity of 6å¼· occurred off Aomori around 23:15. Following this event, Tokyo Electron (TEL) promptly inspected its key facilities in the Tohoku region, specifically the Tokyo Electron Technology Solutions Tohoku Plant (Iwate) and Tokyo Electron Miyagi. Tokyo Electron confirmed that there was no damage to the buildings or equipment at either of these sites. Both plants were reported to be operating as usual as of December 9. This swift confirmation alleviates immediate concerns regarding potential disruptions to the company's production capabilities or supply chain. The absence of damage and the continuation of normal operations suggest that the near-term supply chain risk for Tokyo Electron remains limited. This is a positive indicator for investors, as it implies stability in the company's manufacturing output despite the natural disaster.
