Rohm is partnering with Indian semiconductor startup Suchi Semicon to manufacture power semiconductors and LSIs in India. Suchi Semicon is scheduled to begin mass production of Rohm-designed components in 2026 to supply the local Indian market. This follows a similar collaboration between Rohm and the Tata Group as part of Rohm's expansion strategy in the region.

Context

Japanese power semiconductor leader Rohm has announced a strategic partnership with Indian startup Suchi Semicon to localize the production of power chips and large-scale integrated circuits (LSIs). Under the terms of the agreement, Suchi Semicon will initiate mass production of Rohm-designed components starting in 2026, specifically targeting India’s domestic industrial and automotive markets. This collaboration allows Rohm to bypass traditional export hurdles and establish a firm manufacturing foothold in one of the world's fastest-growing economies. This expansion complements Rohm’s existing alliance with the Tata Group, underscoring a broader strategic pivot toward the Indian subcontinent. By leveraging local manufacturing, Rohm is positioning itself to capitalize on India’s push for semiconductor self-reliance and the rising demand for power-efficient electronics. For investors, this move represents a significant de-risking of the supply chain and an aggressive play to capture long-term growth in the emerging global EV and industrial electronics sectors.
