Lenovo executive Vlad Rozanovich reports supply shortages for high-end Intel Xeon 6 Granite Rapids processors

Lenovo's data center sales executive has reported emerging supply constraints for specific high-end Intel Xeon 6 (Granite Rapids) CPU configurations, impacting server availability.
Context
In a recent interview with CRN at Nvidia’s GTC event, Lenovo executive Vlad Rozanovich reported that the company is experiencing supply shortages for certain Intel CPU configurations. Specifically, the constraint affects high-end Xeon 6 ‘Granite Rapids’ processors, with Rozanovich stating that his company is starting to see shortages of ‘certain Intel CPU configurations.’ The shortage is attributed to the massive uplift in demand for GPU-accelerated servers, where these high-end CPUs are essential companion components in the AI data center boom. These constraints have forced Lenovo to inform some customers that certain data center products may not ship for at least six months. This supply crunch comes as Intel struggles with yields on its 18A manufacturing process, even as it prioritizes server chips over consumer silicon. To mitigate the gap, some customers are reportedly being directed toward older fifth-generation Xeon or AMD alternatives. Intel and AMD have both reportedly planned price increases for March and April 2026 to manage the ongoing supply-demand imbalance.
