GMI Cloud, a Nvidia partner, has announced a $500 million investment to build a new AI data center in Taiwan, highlighting intense, ongoing demand for high-performance computing hardware. The project is a direct response to soaring regional demand for AI training and deployment, with GMI Cloud's CEO noting that the company's current GPU utilization is already "almost full". This move signals that demand for advanced AI chips is robust not just among top hyperscalers but also with specialized cloud providers.
The facility is scheduled to become operational by March 2026 and will be a significant deployment of Nvidia's newest technology. It will house approximately 7,000 of Nvidia's latest Blackwell GB300 GPUs across 96 racks, requiring 16 MW of power. The project is substantially backed by $400 million in financing from several Taiwanese banks, underscoring strong local market confidence and providing significant, forward-looking revenue visibility for Nvidia's most advanced semiconductor products and networking stack.
