Japan's advanced chip foundry Rapidus hosted a significant event in July 2025, unveiling prototype 2nm transistors at its Chitose factory. A Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) official confirmed in November 2025 that key global semiconductor players, including Arm Holdings and Broadcom, attended as potential customers and partners. This signals growing industry interest in Rapidus's ambitious goal to begin mass production of cutting-edge 2nm logic semiconductors by 2027.
