Kimura Information Technology is offering a new service to designated 'DX High Schools' in Japan, which incorporates the use of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools into the high school curriculum.

Context

In a strategic move to address Japan's critical semiconductor talent shortage, Kimura Information Technology launched a nationwide service on December 2, 2025, to provide professional Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools for high school classes. This initiative, a first for Japan, aims to cultivate a future workforce by offering hands-on chip design experience at an early educational stage, tackling a projected deficit of 40,000 semiconductor engineers over the next 10 years. The "DX High School Support Service" offers an academic license for JEDAT's SX-Meister EDA tool, bundled with high-performance PCs, teacher training, and curriculum support. The program targets schools participating in the government's "DX High School" initiative, making them eligible for subsidies of up to ¥10 million per school. With approximately 1,200 schools eligible in fiscal year 2025, this creates a new, government-funded market for entry-level design tools and associated hardware, aiming to build a foundational talent pipeline for Japan's expanding chip industry.
