During the RBC Capital Markets Global Financial Institutions Conference on March 10, 2026, Bank of America Co-President Dean Athanasia detailed the massive scale of the bank's AI adoption. Athanasia reported that the firm currently has 150,000 employees using Microsoft Copilot, generating approximately 1.5 million queries every week. This internal deployment is part of a broader $13 billion annual technology budget, with $4 billion specifically dedicated to new initiatives aimed at driving a 20-25% productivity lift across its global workforce. In addition to the Microsoft integration, the bank is aggressively scaling Salesforce Agentforce to enhance its wealth management operations. Athanasia stated, "We rolled out Salesforce Agentforce... to help financial advisers become more productive," noting that the tool will reach 20,000 individuals by the end of the quarter. These advancements complement the bank's existing AI portfolio, which includes over 1,100 AI and machine learning patents and the Erica virtual assistant, which has now surpassed 3.2 billion client interactions.
