Meta CFO Susan Li says increased compute allocation led to 3% Instagram conversion lift
Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 08:02 AM
Meta CFO Susan Li reported that the company achieved a 3% conversion lift on Instagram during the previous quarter by reallocating high-performance compute resources to address the most significant advertising optimization challenges.
Context
At the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference in March 2026, Meta CFO Susan Li highlighted the direct revenue impact of the company's massive AI infrastructure investments. Li stated, "One of the launches we had on Instagram last quarter grew, I think it was like a 3% conversion lift on Instagram by applying compute to the highest impact sort of ads problems." This performance gain underscores Meta's strategy of utilizing high-end silicon to solve complex ad ranking and delivery challenges, directly translating increased compute power into measurable advertiser ROI. The improvements were largely driven by a new runtime model across Instagram Feed, Stories, and Reels implemented in late 2025. This shift in compute allocation is part of a broader trend where Meta is doubling down on GPUs to power its Generative Ads Recommendation Model (GEM) and sequence learning architectures, which also contributed to a 3.5% lift in ad clicks on Facebook during the same period.
