LONGi reaches 50GW capacity for non-silver HPBC 2.0 modules
Sunday, December 28, 2025 at 08:20 PM
LONGi Green Energy Technology has established 50GW of manufacturing capacity for its HPBC 2.0 solar modules which utilize non-silver metallization technology.
Context
Solar giant LONGi has reached a production capacity of 50GW for its HPBC 2.0 modules, marking the rapid industrialization of its proprietary Hybrid Passivated Back Contact technology. These modules achieve mass production cell efficiencies of up to 24.8% and utilize a breakthrough non-silver metallization process. By removing silver from the manufacturing chain, LONGi significantly reduces exposure to volatile precious metal prices while enhancing the overall durability and efficiency of the solar cells.
This milestone positions LONGi as a leader in the global shift toward high-efficiency N-type solar architectures. The massive 50GW scale allows the company to lower the levelized cost of energy for large-scale projects while securing its supply chain against potential raw material shortages. As the industry moves into 2025, this transition to silver-free, back-contact technology provides LONGi with a distinct cost and performance advantage over competitors still reliant on traditional silver-based pastes.
