In November 2025, Google significantly deepened its investment in the AI supply chain by opening its largest AI hardware engineering center outside the U.S. in Taipei, Taiwan. The new hub will focus on integrating Google's custom TPU processors into server motherboards, directly supporting the company's global AI infrastructure. This move places critical engineering talent directly within Taiwan's world-leading semiconductor ecosystem, home to partners like TSMC.
The center will employ several hundred staff, expanding an engineering team that has already tripled since 2020. For investors, this is a strategic move to accelerate hardware innovation and de-risk its supply chain. By controlling the integration of its own chips, Google aims to speed up the deployment of its AI services, including those powered by Gemini, reinforcing its competitive position in the AI arms race.
