Dinglong KrF and ArFi photoresist products pass qualification at Chinese foundries

The Chinese semiconductor material supplier Dinglong has successfully completed the qualification process for its KrF and ArFi photoresist products with domestic foundry customers.

Context

Hubei Dinglong has announced that its immersion ArF (ArFi) and KrF photoresist products have successfully passed qualification at two major Chinese foundries. This milestone marks the first time these high-end lithography materials have transitioned from testing to confirmed commercial orders for the firm, with initial procurement already exceeding CNY 1 million. The company has achieved full localization of the production chain, including critical monomers and resins that were traditionally imported from Japan. This breakthrough is vital for China’s semiconductor self-sufficiency, as domestic penetration for KrF is currently below 5% and ArFi remains under 1%. To capitalize on this supply gap, Hubei Dinglong is investing CNY 804 million ($113 million) in a new facility with a 300-ton annual capacity. As the firm’s photoresist-related revenue surged 74% to nearly CNY 300 million in 2024, this qualification positions the company to aggressively replace dominant foreign suppliers like Shin-Etsu and TOK amidst tightening global export controls.
