Meta is reportedly negotiating with Samsung Foundry to produce its next-generation Meta Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA) chips. This potential partnership marks a significant shift away from Meta’s exclusive reliance on TSMC, as the company seeks to secure its own silicon supply chain for long-term AI scaling. For Samsung, landing a major hyperscaler like Meta validates its advanced 3nm and 2nm process technologies, positioning the foundry as a viable alternative for high-performance ASIC production. This move is critical as Meta projects its 2024 capital expenditures to reach between $37 billion and $40 billion, driven primarily by AI infrastructure investments.
