Analog Devices to build new semiconductor facility in Thailand with government support
Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 12:30 PM
Analog Devices is expanding its manufacturing footprint in Thailand with a new facility, a move facilitated by support from the Thai government. This investment strengthens the company's regional production capacity for semiconductor components.
Context
On March 19, 2026, Analog Devices (ADI) officially opened a new advanced semiconductor manufacturing facility in Chonburi, Thailand. Located within the Amata City Industrial Estate, the site is designed as a smart, sustainable factory utilizing advanced automation and digital manufacturing technologies. This expansion serves as a critical hub for ADI’s backend operations, specifically focusing on the assembly and testing of high-performance analog chips used in industrial, automotive, and communications sectors.
The project is a central component of Thailand’s broader national strategy to transition from midstream assembly to a global hub for the full semiconductor value chain. Supported by the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), the initiative aligns with a multi-decade roadmap aiming for industry dominance by 2050. By increasing internal capacity, ADI aims to enhance its hybrid manufacturing model and supply chain resilience against global volatility while tapping into the region's growing engineering talent pool.
This investment follows a trend of significant capital expenditure by ADI, including a $1 billion expansion of its Oregon wafer fab in recent years. For investors, the new Thai facility represents a strategic move to secure the "Intelligent Edge"—the intersection where physical data is converted for AI algorithms. By localized production in Southeast Asia, ADI strengthens its ability to reliably serve the automotive and energy markets, which are increasingly reliant on its specialized power management and sensor technologies.
