MIKROE and Renesas sign support agreement for microcontroller development tools
Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 08:40 AM
MIKROE has announced a support agreement with Renesas for microcontroller development tools, expanding the ecosystem for Renesas hardware designers.
Context
Renesas and MIKROE have launched a multi-year partnership to provide integrated development tool support for over 500 of Renesas’s microcontrollers. Announced in January 2026, the agreement ensures that developers receive free, "Day 1" access to software and debugging tools for all new chip launches. By standardizing development through the MIKROE ecosystem, the companies intend to eliminate hardware bottlenecks and accelerate the global deployment of advanced embedded systems.
The deal features a dedicated Planet Debug remote board farm, allowing engineers to test Renesas hardware in real time without purchasing physical units. Utilizing the NECTO Studio IDE and mikroSDK libraries, this "hardware-as-a-service" model significantly lowers the barrier to entry for complex designs. With nearly 2,000 Click boards now compatible, the collaboration directly supports a faster time-to-market for the next generation of AI-driven edge devices and industrial automation technologies.
