Japanese robotics giant FANUC has formed a partnership with NVIDIA to realize "Physical AI" aimed at significantly enhancing the intelligence and capabilities of industrial robots.

Context

Industrial robotics leader FANUC is deepening its partnership with NVIDIA to integrate advanced "Physical AI" and digital twin technologies into its factory automation solutions. This collaboration, highlighted by recent October 2025 announcements, builds on a multi-year relationship and positions FANUC to adopt NVIDIA's Omniverse platform for creating virtual factory models. FANUC is among the first robot manufacturers to support these 3D, OpenUSD-based digital twins for its equipment. For investors, this move is significant as it taps into the $1.2 trillion in U.S. manufacturing investments announced in 2025. By enabling manufacturers to simulate robots in digital twins, the technology can dramatically cut deployment times and costs. Their original AI collaboration already demonstrated how eight robots could perform a task in one hour that previously took a single robot eight hours, an 8x productivity boost. This integration solidifies NVIDIA's role as a core platform for the next wave of industrial automation.
