TSMC dominated the global semiconductor foundry market in 2025, reportedly securing a 70% market share.

Context

As of early 2026, TSMC has consolidated its near-total dominance of the semiconductor manufacturing landscape, reportedly capturing a record 70% share of the global foundry market in 2025. This surge from previous years was driven by an unprecedented demand for AI GPUs and high-performance computing (HPC) chips, with the company's advanced 3nm and 5nm nodes now accounting for roughly 74% of its total wafer revenue. By the end of 2025, TSMC's annual revenue reached approximately $122.42 billion, a massive 35.9% year-over-year increase that far outpaced industry averages. This market concentration underscores TSMC's role as the sole critical provider for the AI revolution, supporting major clients like NVIDIA, Apple, and AMD. To maintain this lead, the company announced an additional $100 billion investment in U.S.-based manufacturing in March 2025, bringing its total domestic commitment to $165 billion. While competitors like Samsung and Intel struggle to maintain pace, TSMC's grip on the supply chain has effectively made the foundry market synonymous with the company itself.
